Tungsten Heavy Alloys Processing via Microwave Sintering, Spark Plasma Sintering, and Additive Manufacturing: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tungsten-heavy alloys (WHA) are a pseudo-alloy in which tungsten is the primary phase and remains filled with additives such as Ni–Fe Ni–Cu. These widely used to make their applications’ structural, electrical, electronic components. According this study, addition processing factors, prime factors affecting performance of WHAs microstructural features matrix composition, powders shapes sizes, distributions particles matrix, well interface-bonding strength between particle matrix. This study summarises current developments WHA processing, microstructure, mechanical characteristics. For manufacture WHAs, various methods discussed, including traditional powder metallurgy (PM), microwave sintering (MW), spark plasma (SPS), additive manufacturing (AM). SPS process depicts better results when compared conventional sintering. review will also hint at effects some advantages.

Microwave Sintering of Aluminum Alloys
Until 2000 almost all research in the microwave sintering area was confined to non-metallic materials. However, after the first report by Penn State in 1999 on full sintering of steel powders in microwave, now in the last few years there has been increasing interest in applying microwave energy for processing of variety of metallic materials. The present study is an extension of this work and r...
متن کاملApplication of Spark Plasma Sintering for Manufacturing of Thermoelectric Materials
V-VI thermoelectric compounds like Bi2Te3-based alloys are well known for room temperature applications like Peltier coolers or thermogenerators. Their anisotropic physical properties and mechanical weakness are a problem for the manufacturing. To overcome the mechanical problem Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) was used. 2 inch Wafers of polycrystalline bismuth telluride based n-type and p-type the...
متن کاملChemical Synthesis and Oxide Dispersion Properties of Strengthened Tungsten via Spark Plasma Sintering
Highly uniform oxide dispersion-strengthened materials W-1 wt % Nd₂O₃ and W-1 wt % CeO₂ were successfully fabricated via a novel wet chemical method followed by hydrogen reduction. The powders were consolidated by spark plasma sintering at 1700 °C to suppress grain growth. The samples were characterized by performing field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microsco...
متن کاملProcessing, Mechanical and Optical Properties of Additive-Free ZrC Ceramics Prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering
In the present study, nearly fully dense monolithic ZrC samples are produced and broadly characterized from microstructural, mechanical and optical points of view. Specifically, 98% dense products are obtained by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) after 20 min dwell time at 1850 °C starting from powders preliminarily prepared by Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) followed by 20 min bal...
